Eating This Fall

    Primary foods that resonate with the Fall season. They have the ability to support healthy Lung and Large Intestine Function.

    The Lung is a delicate organ. There are specific foods and tastes that directly support healthy Lung function. In the Five Element Consciousness Framework the Lung and Large Intestine share a partnership.  Their frequency is associated with the fall season. Below is a short list to get you started.  During the Fall 10-Day program a complete eating plan will be offered.

    Pungent and spicy will enhance Lung function while bitter will help in the Large Intestines desire to let it go!  Saute, bake or boil these foods.  Be sure to include tea with your meals.

    Foods to Eat Now for Letting Go

    • Bitter melon
    • Bitter greens such as Broccoli Rabe, Dandelion, Escarole, Arugula
    • Endive

    Select Seasonally Harvested Foods.  A few Choices Include

    • White Radish
    • Sweet Onions
    • Lotus Root
    • Dried Lily Bulb*
    • Pears
    • Apples
    • Honey
    • Almonds including almond milk
    • Spices such as cayenne pepper

    *Lily Bulb Recipe

    • 2 lily bulbs
    •  1 tbl. oil
    •  1 teasp. salt
    •  1 clove of garlic, diced
    •  1 teasp. mushroom seasoning
    • scallions, cut into 1 inch slices
    • splash of wine
    1. Cut the tops and bottoms off the bulbs and separate the petals. Set aside.
    2. Heat a wok and add the oil and salt.
    3. Add the garlic and saute until lightly golden.
    4. Add the lily bulb petals. Toss for 1 minutes then add the mushroom seasoning.
    5. Add the scallions and continue to cook for 1 more minute.
    6. Add a splash of wine and serve.
    Teas
    Chrysanthemum Tea
    • Boil 5 cups of water
    • Add a handful of chrysanthemum flowers and let cook for 3 minutes
    • Remove from flame and let steep for 10 minutes
    • Add at least 2 teaspoons of honey
    • Drink several times a day
    Goji Berry Tea
    • Boil 5 cups of water
    • Add a handful of goji berries and let boil for 3 minutes
    • Remove from flame and let steep for 10 minutes
    • Add at least two teaspoons of honey
